The Titanium Dioxide Stewardship Council is composed of the domestic manufacturers of titanium dioxide (TiO2), and was formed to promote the safe use of titanium dioxide and titanium tetrachloride (TiCl4) through research, product stewardship, advocacy, and outreach efforts within the framework of responsible chemical management, as well as to conduct the following activities, within or outside the United States:
- Sponsor research to advance scientific understanding of health and environmental safety of titanium dioxide and titanium tetrachloride products;
- Communicate findings of research and regulatory issues to industry, academia, government, and media; and
- Advocate science-based public policy.
ResearchThe Titanium Dioxide Stewardship Council sponsors research directed at understanding the health and environmental profile of titanium dioxide and titanium tetrachloride. The Titanium Dioxide Stewardship Council and its members have sponsored extensive research in areas of mammalian toxicology, aquatic toxicity, environmental occurrence, fate and degradation, and pharmacokinetics.
